Four coins issued in 2025 reached the finals of the "Coin of the Year" competition

Four coins issued by Latvijas Banka in 2025 qualified for the finals of the prestigious international coin competition "Coin of the Year" (COTY). They excelled among the top 10 coins in various categories:

– the gold collector coin "Our Land" – in the "Best Gold Coin" category;

– the silver collector coin "Džemma" – in the "Most Artistic Coin" category;

– the silver collector coin "Latvian Book – 500" – in the "Inspirational Coin" category;

– the 2 euro commemorative coin "Sēlija " – in the "Best Circulating Coin" category.

Many central banks and mints register their coins issued during the previous year for the international coin competition "Coin of the Year". From all entries, an international jury selects the 10 best coins in each category. The winner of each category and the absolute winner will be announced in August this year.

Twice in its history, Latvijas Banka's coins have achieved an absolute victory, and have received many prizes in various categories almost every year. In 2020, the collector coin "Honey Coin" was recognised as the world's "Most Artistic Coin of the Year" and secured the absolute victory, earning the "Coin of the Year" award. In 2010, the "Coin of Latvia" matched the same success.
